What do we cover in the Introduction to Software Pricing course?

This course gives an overview of our unique model without becoming overwhelming.

  • Customer Benefit Analysis to model the tangible and intangible benefits of your solution.
  • Value Exchange Modeling so that you can select the optimal foundational elements of your business model. 
  • Solution Modeling so that you can design segment-specific packages. 
  • Pricing Model including Strategy, Structure, Specifics, and Policies, so that you know the specific changes you're making to improve your Pricing Model.

Course Syllabus

This course introduces the principles and practices of pricing software-enabled solutions, emphasizing that pricing is a dynamic system rather than a single number.

Students will explore theory and practical tools, including the Profit Stream™ Canvas, that will encourage collective wisdom across your entire team, to design sustainable, value-driven pricing strategies that align customer benefit with business profitability. 

This module teaches a structured process for identifying, quantifying, and communicating the benefits of software-enabled solutions.

Students will learn to analyze consumer needs across multiple dimensions, measure economic impact, and create Benefit Cards to connect solution value to business outcomes.

This module introduces Solution Benefit Mapping, a method for aligning features with the customer benefits to determine the right formula for your business.

Students will also apply Whole Product Thinking to identify gaps, ensure expected value delivery, and differentiate solutions for target audiences.

This module introduces the seven fundamental value exchange models that form the core of software business models by defining how solutions are exchanged for money.
